McDermott Says He's against Bailout, Votes 'Yes' and Pulls his Speach from his Site

I've been following what my congressman has been saying about the bailout. He rails against it in the speech on the house floor. Then when I look to see who voted for the 700 billion bailout for the crooks who caused the problem, McDermott is on the "Yes" list!!! Then he pulls the link to his speech off of the front page (hoping we won't notice) and updates his page to state why he voted for it. The link to his anti bail out speech is still on his servers, you can read it here: http://www.house.gov/mcdermott/sp080923.shtml

I have it saved along with the video incase he completely removes it. Now his site says this: "“Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Barney Frank are two people I trust immeasurably; they tried as hard as they could to put together H.R. 3997 to protect the American people, and in so doing they earned my support. This was a day for leaders to lead in the most difficult of circumstances and they - and I- accepted that responsibility.

“I voted in favor of H.R. 3997 because I know with certainty that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Financial Services Committee Chairman Rep. Barney Frank put the American people first and negotiated a bill that would have taken a first step in restoring the faith and trust of the American people. Doing nothing sends a terrible signal."

What a slime ball. He really had me thinking he was for the people on this one.
